UN Agency for children, UNICEF has joined many friends and admirers from around the world in paying tribute and mourning Sir Roger Moore.

Actor Sir Roger, best known for playing James Bond, died at the age of 89.

In the statement, UNICEF extended its deepest sympathies to the family. The statement said that Sir Roger was devoted to serving the world’s children for over 25 years and remained dedicated to UNICEF right up until his death.

Sir Roger brought attention to the desperate conditions facing some of the world’s most vulnerable children and was a compelling voice on issues such as children’s rights, HIV/AIDS, landmine injuries, child labour and iodine deficiency.
