Nigeria yesterday joined the international community to mark the World Blood Donor Day.
June 14 every year is observed globally as World Blood Donor Day to raise awareness on the need for safe blood, blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
The World Health Organisation said that this year’s observance centers on how people can assist in blood donation for emergency situations.
In line with that, WE FM’s Jela’s Clinic conducted a blood drive at the premises of the radio station in Maitama. The coordinator of the National Blood Transfusion Service, Abuja base, Dr Omoh Izendonwe confrimed that there are lots of benefits from blood donation apart from the psychological feeling of saving lives.
