Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai has charged personnel of the Nigerian Army to remain vigilant despite its defeat of the Boko Haram terrorists in the North East.
Buratai gave the charge when he led officers and men on a new year 10 kilometres route match exercise in Abuja today.
He congratulated the officers and men for their effort in 2016, and urged them to remain loyal and committed to the highest standard of discipline this year.
According to him, with the defeat of the Boko Haram terrorists, the troops must take care of all its operational responsibilities to ensure that no ugly incident arises again.
Buratai, who emphasized the need for regular exercise and training, urged the personnel to brace for the challenges that may arise in 2017.
The chief of army staff also directed formations to begin preparation for the Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship slated to hold in October.
