The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers NUPENG has ordered the stoppage of loading activities at all Total Nigeria Limited depots in the country over termination of workers appointment.
Chairman, NUPENG South-West Tokunbo Korodo, who made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, said the management of Total has been resisting the unionization of workers under its contract programme in Lagos, Kaduna and Koko in Delta blending plants.
The chairman also said the management of Total had moved further to terminate those workers who had joined the union despite the efforts of the union to resolve the issue amicably.
Zonal Vice-Chairman of NUPENG Rotimi Benjamin disclosed that the management of Total had summoned the union to a meeting to resolve the issue.
He, however, added that the union would not go back on its action until all the issues were resolved.
