The Senate has donated N12 million to the Nigerian Legion towards the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, announced the donation while he was decorated with the Remembrance Day emblem.

Saraki said the gesture was to appreciate the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces in providing and maintaining peace and security in the country.

According to a statement by Mohammed Isa, his Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Saraki said apart from the N12 million, each Senator will make an individual donation to support the nation’s retirees and keeping the memory of fallen heroes alive.

He assured the veterans that the National Assembly will continue to give support and commendation to men and women in the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in providing peace and stability in the country.
