NNPC subsidiary explains shortfall in gas production

Written by  Feb 13, 2017

The Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, an upstream subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, says the 2016 militant-attack of the Forcados trunk line has gravely impacted gas production.

Managing Director of the Company, Yusuf Matashi, explained that since the gas is associated with the crude oil, shutting down oil well also shuts in most of the gas.
A statement signed by Ndu Ughamadu, NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division says the Company would increase its gas production by as much as 50 per cent whenever the Forcados line is back on stream.
