Budget passes 2nd reading

The Senate would next week hold public hearing on the 2017 Appropriation Bill.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki said the public hearing will hold on February 7th and 8th with various interests putting input to make the budget more people-oriented.
Recall that the 2017 Appropriation Bill passed a second reading at the Senate last week after a three-day debate.
Saraki had urged the standing committees to thoroughly review the estimated revenues and expenditure, so as to produce a realistic and implementable budget for the nation.
He said the budget must be tailored towards pulling the country out of the recession, investing in the people, and laying foundation for a diversified sustainable inclusive economic growth.
The senate president also stressed the need for the committees to ensure equitable distribution of projects among the various geographical areas
