BPE on River Basin development authorities

Written by  Jan 24, 2017

Acting Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, Dr. Vincent Akpotaire has suggested leasing the land belonging to the 12 niges, RBDAs to top flight investors who will irrigate them.

He said that such investors could train the subsistence farmers on modern farming techniques and at the same time; use the dams to generate hydro power for the affected communities.

A statement signed by Head, Public Communications, Alex Okoh said handing over the RBDA’s 380,000 hectres of arable land for subsistence farming as some people are calling for would not yield the desired results and would also not bring value for money.
