PENGASSAN warns FG against full concession of refineries

Written by  Jun 28, 2017

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN has cautioned the federal government not to embark on a full concession of the nation’s refineries.

Group Executive Chairman, NNPC Branch of PENGASSAN, Abdullahi Sale gave the warning after a tour of the Port Harcourt refinery on Tuesday.

Sale, who noted that it would be wrong for any government to fully privatize its energy sector, said the government could decide to hold 20 per cent equity.

He said although modular refineries will not be able to meet the 40 million litres per day demand of Nigerians, it will provide some level of sufficiency.
